RBRA Community
Spirit Initiative
What is it and what are we doing?
  • RBRA is currently developing a “Community Spirit Initiative” for the Raby Bay Estate . Our residents have suggested they would like Raby Bay to be known as “a place to live safely and enjoy your life, whatever stage it may be”.  In particular they would like to feel “connected” across the Estate’s various street and canal communities.

  • We want a welcoming and caring community in which residents take the time to know and care for their neighbours - irrespective of age and background. Where residents build a sense of home, street and estate pride.

  • Our Community Spirit Initiative is being developed in a "staged" approach. Initially starting within a number of streets, we are identifying Street Captains who will be residents from those particular streets and who will act as the focal point for:

    • Street projects.

    • Welcoming street “newcomers”.

    • Social events and street communications for their street/ local neighbourhood.

  • They will also play an important contact and communications role within our Raby Bay Watch Program.

  • Eventually we aim to have a "Street Captain" identified for every street in Raby Bay.

  • RBRA has nominated an RBRA Committee Member to act as the Estate Coordinator for the Street Captains, to ensure we have consistency and our Street Captains have the support needed.

  • The concept of Street Projects has been initiated as a way to help the street residents get to know their neighbours. There are 35 (Qld State owned) street parks within the Raby Bay Estate, where the respective street community can potentially “adopt” and care for the street park. This provides a great opportunity for neighbours to come together with a common goal and to enjoy the outcome through regular social gatherings.

  • RBRA is currently discussing this program with RCC to gain their approval and support with the street park caring initiative.

  • Other street project ideas can also be considered.

  • We are also looking at initiating a "Working Group" for the Raby Bay Foreshore Park, which is in need of care and a vision for the future.  This "Working Group" we are calling "Friends of the Park", which is a key project for our Community.  The benefits of this initiative could well flow onto Raby Bay Boulevard and Esplanade Parks. If you are interested in helping on this initiative, please contact us.
